********************UPDATE*********************

Twenty-nine residents and neighbours directly affected by the proposed redevelopment project attended and voiced their concerns and support at Saturdays Open House. The major expressed concern was the traffic now and in the future if the project proceeds. Traffic concerns break down into 3 categories:

1) speed

2) volume

3) parking

The Cordova Bay Community Club (CBCC) Directors share these concerns and pledge to do the following:

  1. Write a letter to Saanich and the Cordova Bay Association (CBA) supporting the lowering of the speed limit to 30km on Sutcliffe Road.
  2. Educate the CBCC users and members about the need to have a slow and safe speed on this quiet residential road bordered with Senior Housing and children’s Daycare.
  3. Host a Saanich Community Association Network (SCAN) seminar in conjunction with CBA in the near future about City Speed Limits

National Sport Trust Fund

National Sport Trust Fund

The National Sport Trust Fund (NSTF) is a philanthropic gift-giving program established through the Canadian Council of Provincial and Territorial Sport Federations (CCPTSF) for the development of amateur sport on a national level.

The CCPTSF (or as it is sometimes referred to – National Sport Trust Fund) is a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA) with the Canada Revenue Agency (#88938 6868 RR0001).

One of the functions of the CCPTSF is to manage a national fundraising initiative for amateur sport. This permits Canadian sport organizations  to raise funds for specific causes that will promote the development of amateur sport in Canada. The organizations that have registered projects are responsible for both the fundraising and the expenditures related to the funds raised. Over the last few years, the CRA has accepted the uniqueness of the NSTF while, at the same time, strongly suggesting the implementation of policies, procedures and documentation to ensure ongoing compliance with CRA policies.

As a registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA), the National Sport Trust Fund is able to issue an official tax receipt for all qualifying donations of $20 or greater. The CCPTSF has provincial chapters across Canada, with Sport BC as the Fund Manager of the BC chapter.

With sport organizations looking to diversify their revenue streams, the National Sport Trust Fund offers the opportunity for sporting groups to develop fundraising programs which target fundraising from private sources; including individuals, corporations and foundations.

Cordova Bay Community Club has established an account (P 158) with NSTF to facilitate charitable donations to our fund raising efforts.  Please contact Ron Jordan for further information if you wish to contribute – Thanks,
